July 2015 Rosicrucian Mass Sermon: The Abomination of Desolation & the Stele of Revealing

aod

The Stele of Revealing is one of the most enigmatic symbols in Thelema.  And yet is demonstrates the whole of Liber AL vel Legis on one concise graphic image that works with great articulation.  The adorations that are derived from it should always be sung from the heart with great reverence and a sense of holiness.

  1. The Abomination of Desolation
    & the Stele of Revealing

    AL:III.19 That stele they sall call the Abomination of Desolation; count well its name, & it shall be to you as 718.

    The Ark being taken from the Holy of Holies in the Hebrew temple meant that Go no longer indwelled the temple & the temple was desolate; the Abomoniation meanind to be w/o God.

    The Romans replaced the Ark with a statue of Apollo; their Sun god.

    The BA of Egyptian statues–but the hebrew god had no shape.

    Egyptian House of God; the Ark was a shrine or sacred boat and ceremonies were performed before it.

    AL:II.23 I am alone: there is no God where I am.

    God has involuted & in the place where IT was there is NOT-Nuit.
    As we are each God, these images in the stele cannot be anything but symbols.

    Notice in the above verse from AL that God is spelled with initial caps.

    AL:II.3 In the sphere, I am everywhere the center, as she the circumference is nowhere found.

    Hadit is the lord of the sky & his wings are atop the stele; only below Nuit who envelops the top half of the stele.

    AL:I.21 With the God & the Adorer I am nothing: they do not see me. They are as upon the earth; I am Heaven adn there is no other God than me, and my lord Hadit.

    This is almost an exact description of the stele for in the top section & below Nuit & Hadit, we find RHK (solar-phallic sun god that is each of us) as chief of the gods; to the left of the prophet of Mentu, lord of Thebes; who would be the adorer & for whom the sky is opened–that is called Ankh-af-n-khonsu.

    His dwelling place is amongst the stars & he is not confined to a temple that can be ransacked by profanation.

    Ankh-af-n-khonsu means life of the moon; wherein we can see the starry sky. He is a reflection of RHK.

    718 = 7*1*8=56
    NU-Infinite Space & the infinite stars

    Hadit as lord, treads upon the firmament of NU.

    5+6 is the uniting of the microcosm & macrocosm.
    5=body
    6=soul (ruach)

    We see this in the symbol of the church itself; with the hexagram & pentagram interwoven.
