September 2014 Rosicrucian Mass Sermon: The Riddle of AL

Riddle Sphinx

In the sermon for our September 2014, Rosicrucian Mass, we discussed the Riddle of AL and the natures of Love and Will, as being facets of the Great Work.  Through the solution to the riddle, we find a very sublime element that for us, puts true meaning into the Universe.

  1. A Brief Synopsis:

93=418; 418 being the Great Work, and so, 93 finding significant equivalents with Love and Will in the Greek Qabalah, and importance in Liber AL vel Legis, shows us that it is also a number of the Great Work. Love is the Universal “Force” that animates the world around us and Will is the individuated “Force” that moves each, ourselves. And it is in doing that the Great Work is accomplished.

  2. Notes on the Sermon:

Understanding the prophecy; the riddle of AL
    Riddle of the Sphinx (oedipus)
It becomes the quintessential question of our time in like manner with that of the Sphinx. And its answer(s) ma be various; depending on the nature of those who attempt its solution.

    AL:I.46
“Nothing is a secret ke of this law. Sixty-one the Jews call it; I call it eight, eighty, four hundred & eighteen.”

    AL:II.78
“Lift up thyself! for there is none like unto thee among men or among Gods! Lift up thyself, o my prophet, thy stature shall surpass the stars. they shall worship thy name, foursquare, mystic, wonderful, the number the the man; and the name of thy house is 418.”

93 is the man shows H.G.A. is Aiwass; Boleskine is house 418.

    AL:I.51
“There are four gates to one palace; the floor of that palace is of silver and gold; lapis lazuli & jasper are there; and all rare scents; jasmine & rose, and the emblems of death. Let him enter in turn or at once the four gates; let him stand on the floor of the palace. Will he not sink? Amn. Ho! warrior, if thy servant sink? But there are means and means. Be goodly therefore: dress ye all in fine apparel; eat rich foods and drink sweet wines and wines that foam! Also, take your fill and will of love as ye will, when, where and with whom ye will! But always unto me.”

    Liber Ararita DCCCXIII:II.11
For mine was the keyword to the Closed Palace 418 and mine the reins of the Chariot of the Sphinxes, black and white. But I was not deceived by anything of all these things.

93 Will of the individual; movement that puts order to the chaos; life force
    ===
93 Love of the Goddess; puts order to the Universe; Mother Nature, the Universe

    AL:I.26
‘the unfragmentary non-atomic fact of my universality’.
particle attraction that sets the destiny of the Universe from the Big Bang.

    Liber Cheth CLVI.20
    20. This Path is beyond Life and Death; it is also beyond Love; but that ye know not, for ye know not Love.

Crowley writes in the Book of Thoth:
Briefly, the doctrine is that the ultimate reality (which is Perfection) is Nothingness [Hence, connected to the AIN 8,80 & 418, as per Nuit; Who is NOT]. Hence all manifestations, however glorious, however delightful, are stains. To obtain perfection, all existing things must be annihilated. The destruction of the garrison may therefore be taken to mean their emancipation from the prison of organized life, which was confining them[AL:I.51…Will he not sink?]. It was their unwisdom to cling to it.

And in AL I.57 we find:
“Invoke me under my stars! Love is the law, love under will. Nor let the fools mistake love; for there are love and love. There is the dove[L.V.X. or life force from above], and there is the serpent [Bestial N.O.X. or evolutionary life force.]. Choose ye well! He, my prophet, hath chosen, knowing the law of the fortress, and the great mystery of the House of God”.

    21. And the end thereof is known not even unto Our Lady or to the Beast whereon She rideth; nor unto the Virgin her daughter nor unto Chaos her lawful Lord; but unto the Crowned Child is it known? It is not known if it be known.

As the Master Lao Tse has said: “The Tao that can be known is not the Tao.”

    22. Therefore unto Hadit and unto Nuit be the glory in the End and the Beginning; yea, in the End and the Beginning.

AL:II.75 “Aye! listen to the numbers & the words:”
AL:II.76: “4 6 3 8 A B K 2 4 A L G M O R 3 Y X 24 89 R P S T O V A L. What meaneth this, o prophet? Thou knowest not; nor shalt thou know ever. There cometh one to follow thee: he shall expound it. But remember, o chosen one, to be me; to follow the love of Nu in the star-lit heaven; to look forth upon men, to tell them this glad word.”

Hebrew word for numbers is SPRVTh, which as much as number and words combined. This suggests the numbers ofthe puzzle reate to the Sefirot.

    1st set to equal 418:
4 6 3 8 represent significant stages of Initiation on the Tree.
    ChSD ThPARTh BINH HVD = 415 + AB = 418
AB, cf. Fire Opal; Force of Attraction; Father

    2nd set to equal 418:
    K (KP) = 100, 2(ChKMH)=73, 4(ChSD) = 72, A=Fool Atu=0, L=LMD=74, G=3, M=MIM=90, O=Vau=6 (Ayin is 15, which reduces to 6)

    3rd set to equal 418:
    R=200, 3(BINH=(2 or Beth,which leads from Kether, as 1 leads to Chokmah) Y(Yod/10) X(plus sign) 24(path between Chokmah2 and Chesed4, which is Vau=6) 89(path between Hod8 and Yesod9, which is Resh=200).

4th set, as elaborated by Crowley, equals 418:
    R P S T O V A L

There is a 4-fold repetition of 418, echoing the 4 gates to 1 palace in AL:I.51 and suggests a 4-fold use of 418.

418×4=1672; reducing to 16; a ThRShRQ of 61(that the Jews call it) and 16 is the Tower Atu=80.
    4×4=16 (4 squared)
    4+4=8

The above gives us 3 recursions for the Veil of the Negative; AIN=61; 8, 80 and 418, as declared in AL. 4×2 also equals 8; bow and arrow of Qesheth.

On the cover of the AL manuscript, Liber AL is said to be delivered by Aiwass93=418.

AL:II.2 “Come! all ye, and learn the secret that hath not yet been revealed. I, Hadit, am the complement of Nu, my bride. I am not extended, and Khabs is the name of my House.”

AL:II.78 “Lift up thyself! for there is none like unto thee among men or among Gods! Lift up thyself, o my prophet, thy stature shall surpass the stars. They shall worship thy name, foursquare, mystic, wonderful, the number of the man; and the name of thy house 418.”

Will=93 and resides in the Khabs. House=418

  3. What are the main points I should take from this lesson? A bit hard to understand. Plus, the audio quality was bad so couldn’t hear much

    1. Hi Myst…the whole point of the solution, expressed simply as 93=418 is that the individual Will of each of us has a commonality with the Will of the Universe. I discuss this more fully in my personal blog: https://pauljosephrovelli.blogspot.com/2021/01/an-empirical-examination-of-will-and.html
Also, sorry for the technical problems on the sermon; there’s been a long learning curve for our mass recordings. However, you can hear the sermon better on our full mass recording: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XYUg9YbEZos&t=29s
