At the center of the Gnostic Spirit is the restoation of Virtue to the Goddess, who has been abused, because hidden by men in the Tetragrammaton, and turned into a Beast by Daniel and the Christians. She is all but completely ignored by the Muslims, as the female is so hated in Arabic culture. We again celebrate the creative aspect of the Divine, and do not hate it like so many hate the Demiurge.

Our Lady Babalon
Sermon Notes
Let us listen to the words of Liber 300: “She rides astride the Beast; in her left hand she holds the reins, representing the passion which unites them. In her right she holds aloft the cup, the Holy Grail aflame with love and death. In this cup are mingled the elements of the sacrament of the Aeon.”
The Aeon referred to is simply our time and our mythos, not something belonging to somebody else in another. There were other incarnations of Babalon in other times; Boudica, Joan of Arc, and Harriet Tubman come to mind.
1. In her most abstract form, Babalon represents the female sexual impulse and the
1A She embodies the full essence of femininity, equal with masculinity.
1A1. She demonstrates this by being an affectionate parent, a devoted spouse, a
caring daughter, a trustworthy sister, and a loyal friend.
1B. In a true sense, a feminist is the very existence of nature. She is the personification
of Ageless beauty, selfless Love, Purity, Grace and dignity.
1B1. Strong and complete, she is the model of womanhood, coming to us ‘girt with a sword,’ which is the tool of thinking!
1B2. The liberated woman is in control of her sexual impulse, deciding for herself
how it is used. She is self-determined, following her own intelligence.

2A1. Gold reins in her right hand
3. Babalon is usually depicted as riding the Beast.
3A. She is also referred to as a sacred whore, and her primary symbol is the Chalice or
Graal.
4. Babalon is the Daughter of the Tetragrammaton, the four-lettered name of God.
4A. She was cast off in the Hebrew Qabalah, relegated to the Shekinah, said to be a
blessing from their god.
4B. In the Zohar She became the Whore to tempt Jacob away from his devotion to his
god.
4C. The Whore is a holy office, as it is She who arouses the Great Father to create.
4C1. As the Whore, She takes the seat of the Great Mother, representing matter.
4C2. Let us not forget that She is also the Virgin, of pure Spirit, and beyond the
reach of mortal man; she is The Goddess.
5. Babalon today.
5A. Babalon is seen as a goddess of Thelema.
5A1. She is represented by Christians in the book of Revelation as the most dark
and evil of creatures riding a seven-headed beast.
5A2. This idea is actually taken from the Jewish scriptures, the Book of Daniel.
5B. We see her in the feminists who walked our world recently. Ruth Bader Ginsburg,
Gloria Steinem, and Betty Friedan are excellent examples.
5C. Called the Mother of Abominations, She has no god because She is divine herself.
6. Personal thoughts.
6A. I’m reading on Babalon as both a daughter and a mother, and I found an intuitive
balance between her sexual impulse and the strong or complete woman.
5A1. She’s not just sitting on the throne of the Great Mother, it is Her rightful place
to be on that throne.
6B. I have encountered her in a meditation on the Sefiroth of the Qabalah.
5B1. The light and the dark mother appeared to me in this meditation, showing me
what I could understand at that time in my life.
6C. On my first journey up the Tree of Life the meditations included experiences of the
Sefiroth Binah, the Divine Mother.
5C1. I asked for admission to the temple of Binah and waited in meditation. I made
this request in several meditations before I was finally granted admission.
6D. The dark side of Binah opened to me. The Divine Mother came to me as Kali, the
Hindu Goddess of many arms, a sword, a severed head, and clothing of human
body parts. She removed my head with her sword and sang a wild song while she
danced a crazy dance. When She replaced my head I was shaken to my core! I
perceived Kali as a face of the Divine Mother–it being that Kali was the first way I
could comprehend the Dark Side of the Mother Goddess.
6D1. It was then that the temple of the Light Mother opened and there was a bright
light, too bright to see much of anything. I saw Babalon with flaming hair,
reminding me of Brigid, the Celtic Goddess of Light. Brigid’s hair is usually
depicted as fire. The light around me was so bright I could barely see Her. She
enveloped me in Her light and showered me with love.
6E. When I opened my eyes I was on the path to next Sefiroth.
5E1. Because of this experience I understand Babalon’s nature as creation,
preservation and destruction–the powers of the Divine.
5E2.There are aspects of the godhead that She holds. She creates with the Father,
sustains the creation, and then destroys to allow for more creation.
7. Imbalance is inconsistent with Gnosis.
7A. Patriarchy preaches a male god only. A jealous male god dominates modern
Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. This is out of balance.
7B. Matriarchy is exclusively concerned with a goddess only. This is also unbalanced.
7C. The idea of a Biune God promotes balance between the Mother and the Father, with
neither superior to the other. This is our path.
7D. And from this the Magickal Childe, which is the human race, comes forth as male
and female.
